Chief minister Eknath Shinde announced that the state government would acquire land at Satara for the Bengaluru-Mumbai industrial corridor during the first apex monitoring authority meeting of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme held in Delhi chaired by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The state government has identified 6,000 acres to be acquired for the corridor. Currently, the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor is in an advanced stage of development with two nodes at Aurangabad and at Dighi in Raigad district. The development of the corridors is a 50-50 partnership between the state and Centre. While the state government will be providing investment in the form of land the centre will provide a matching monetary grant. The state has acquired 14,000 acres for the two nodes. The proposed Delhi-Nagpur corridor is still in the conceptual stage with two nodes planned at Nagpur and Amravati.
Shinde said that nearly 85% of land had been acquired in Dighi and in-principle approval for Dighi city is awaited.
“We’ll make available 7,500 acres of land worth Rs 3,500 crore for Dighi, and NICDC will provide Rs 3,500 crore for land development. This will then be handed over to the special purpose vehicle for development,” said an official.
Shinde further pointed out that the Centre is yet to grant approval for the textile park at Aurangabad as also the multi-logistics part and 40km ring road in Auric city, Aurangabad. The Centre is also to grant approval for the medical devices and bulk drug parks at Dighi, said officials.
