KPC Projects Ltd. and URC Construction Pvt. Ltd. are the only two bidders for the construction of the Soladevanahalli depot of the 149.35 km Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) after the Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) of Karnataka opened technical offers on Monday.

The Soladevanahalli depot will be used to stabilize and maintain trains on the 24,866 km Corridor 2 (Mallige Line) which will connect Baiyyappanahalli – Chikkabanavara terminal via 14 stations. This depot, along with another depot at Akkupet (Devanahalli), will house the project’s rolling stock comprising 51 trains (306 coaches).

The scope of the contract also includes construction of a 1 km at-grade section between Chikkabanavara station and Soladevanahalli depot.

K-RIDE had floated tenders (bids) for its civil construction contract in September 2024 at a Rs. Estimate of 170.93 crore and construction deadline of 24 months.

Tender no: K-RIDE/BSRP/DEPOT/SDHL/2024

The brief scope of KRIDE: Construction of Rolling Stock Depot/Train Maintenance of Bangalore Suburban Railway Project (BSRP) with Administration Buildings and Workshops at Soladevanahalli (Chikkabanawara) including Civil Buildings, MEP, Roofing, Signage, Architectural Finishes, STP, External Drainage, Internal Roads, boundary wall, construction of level formation of length 1.00 km (approx.) and other associated works between Chikkabanavara station and Soladevanahalli depot of the project Bangalore Suburban Railway (BSRP).

Both bids have now been sent for technical bid evaluation, which may take a couple of months to complete. Once this is done, financial bids from technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who is the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.
