On December 9, the Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) announced that KPC Projects Ltd. and URC Construction Pvt. Ltd. were the only bidders who submitted bids for the construction of the Soladevanahalli depot for the suburban rail project in Bengaluru (BSRP).
Importance of Soladevanahalli Depot in Bangalore Suburban Railway Project
The Soladevanahalli depot is a key component of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP). This depot will be used for stabling and maintenance of trains on Line 2 (Mallige Line) covering a distance of 24,866 km between Baiyyappanahalli and Chikkabanavara. In conjunction with Akkupet (Devanahalli), Soladevanahalli Depot will host the project’s rolling stock.
Bidding process
In September 2024, K-RIDE initiated the tender process for the construction works of the Soladevanahalli depot.

The purpose of the work
The contractor appointed for this contract will be responsible for the construction of the rolling stock/train maintenance depot of the Bangalore Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) at Soladevanahalli (Chikkabanawara), including the development of administrative buildings and workshops. The scope of work includes civil works, MEP, roofing, signage, architectural finishes, waste water treatment plant (STP), external drainage, internal roads and boundary walls.
The contractor will also be responsible for carrying out a 1 km level section between Chikkabanavara station and Soladevanahalli depot. Additionally, the contractor will be responsible for various associated works between Chikkabanavara station and Soladevanahalli depot of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP).
The process to follow
The offers submitted by KPC Projects Ltd. and URC Construction Pvt. Ltd. will be subjected to technical evaluation. Additionally, K-RIDE will disclose the financial bids of technically qualified bidders to reveal the lowest bidder for the contract.
