On Friday, the 30-share BSE benchmark slumped 1,176.46 points, or 1.49 per cent, to settle at 78,041.59. On the day, it slumped 1,343.46 points, or 1.69%, to 77,874.59.
“Nervousness continued to grip investors and stocks in general went haywire as the dollar’s continued strength against the rupee prompted foreign investors to flee local equities and into dollar safe havens,” said Prashanth Tapse , Senior Vice President (Research), Mehta Equities Ltd, said.
