(Metro News): India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train is progressing towards its debut. The first sleeper variant of the Vander Bharat train was built recently sent from Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai for uploaded simulation tests. The trains will also undergo extensive testing including high-speed runs before the commercial launch of the train.
The trains manufactured by BEML and Integral Coach Factory (ICF) will undergo trials in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh. THE Research Projects and Standards Organization (RDSO) in Lucknow will be responsible for supervising the trials.
According to a senior railway official, the sleeper trains will be subjected to multiple tests with speeds reaching 130 kmph in Jhansi division and 180 kmph in Kota division.
Purpose of the load simulation test
These load simulation tests aim to evaluate the train’s performance and overall stability under different conditions such as different loads, track types and weather scenarios.

The Vande Bharat sleeper train is an updated version of the popular Vande Bharat series of coaches. It is designed to provide a comfortable travel experience and features a maximum speed of 160 km/h, enabling efficient connectivity for long-distance travel.

The first Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains is a new 16-coach variant of the Vande Bharat Chair Car series designed with a maximum speed of 160 km/h and capable of accommodating 823 passengers.
