The site of Ghamariya IMC in the Gaya district of Bihar is being developed as an Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) under the Amritsar Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC). The AKIC is designed to leverage the high-capacity, high-speed Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) as its core infrastructure. Running parallel to the Golden Quadrilateral and its diagonals, AKIC aims to enhance investment potential by improving connectivity and transportation.
Location of Ghamariya IMC
- District and Block: The proposed IMC site is located in the Dobhi Block of Gaya district, one of the 24 blocks within the district.
- Area Coverage: The IMC covers an area of 1,635.7 acres.
- Cultural Significance: Gaya district is culturally significant due to its proximity to Bodh Gaya, a key religious and historical site where Buddha attained enlightenment.
Connectivity and Infrastructure
- Proximity to Major Highways: The IMC is strategically located near National Highway (NH) 22, connecting Gaya to Jharkhand.
- Golden Quadrilateral & EDFC Access: It is located approximately 6.5 km from NH 19 (part of the Golden Quadrilateral) and about 35 km from the proposed New Paharpur Station of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC).
Project Development and Planning
The process for selecting consultants to prepare the detailed master plan and the preliminary design report for roads and essential utilities is currently in progress. These developments will be key to ensuring that the infrastructure and services at the IMC are of high quality and capable of supporting future industrial activities.
