The extension of the Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) to Kochi via Coimbatore was approved with Dharmapuri Salem in Tamil Nadu admeasuring approx. 1,773 acres and Palakkad Industrial Area in Kerala admeasuring approx. 1,878 acres as the priority nodes for development.
The perspective plan for the extension of “CBIC to Kochi and Coimbatore” along with Concept Master Plan for identified Integrated Manufacturing Cluster and other project sites had been prepared by KSIDC. As per the perspective plan, the extension of CBIC is aimed at integrating Kerala and western Tamil Nadu with the network of economic and industrial corridors of the country. The proposed extension will also integrate with other planned developments in the region – like Chennai Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor (CKIC), defense corridor etc. with focus on increasing the share of manufacturing, facilitating existing and upcoming manufacturing units through world class service industries, promoting balanced regional growth and developing southern India.
