YEIDA Extends Deadline for Film City Bids till May 30
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has once again extended the deadline for submitting bids for developing International Film City off the high-speed express corridor — this time to May 30, 2022. This is the second time the deadline has been extended. The global tender for UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s visionary project will now be opened on June 2, 2022.
YEIDA Authority CEO, Arun Vir Singh said the decision to extend the deadline was taken at the request of some international companies, including Fox Studios. Fox Studios has recently requested that they are also interested in the project and is in the process of forming a consortium. Likewise, YEIDA received similar requests from some other global companies.
Bidders Information and Reason of Extension
The UP cabinet in January this year gave the final go-ahead to float the tender for the project to be implemented on a DBOT (Design, Build, Operate, Transfer) basis on approx. 1,000 acres of land along the Yamuna Expressway. The project is to be developed in Sector 21 and will be completed in three phases. The first phase target is year 2024, along with Noida International Airport in Jewar.
The earlier deadline for submitting the tender was April 30, while the technical bid was scheduled to be opened, But in view of the interest shown by the film industry in the south, the earlier date of the global tender was extended. 16 companies, including Universal Pictures, Ernst & Young, Balaji Telefilms and Godrej Properties, have shown interest in the Film City project so far.
Tender & Selection Procedure
YEIDA floated the tender for the selection of a concessionaire for the Rs10,000-crore Film City project in November 2021 and organised a pre-bid meeting wherein about 20 companies participated. Subsequently, the Authority compiled the queries, concerns and issues raised by these companies and sent them to the public-private partnership (PPP) bid evaluation committee of the Uttar Pradesh Government.
